The APS equity dashboard is still not complete and should be much more robust.

• The demographic data does not include students who receive free/reduced meals.

• Posted student success data measures only the pass rates for the 3rd grade reading SOL and students taking Algebra 1 or higher by 8th grade.

• There is no post-pandemic and post-SRO suspension data.

It’s also critical to listen to the community. Overreliance on technology, for everything from the Annual Online Verification Process (AOVP) to online-only report cards, is a barrier for some families. Some don’t understand the changes to grading practices and new terminology with standards-based grading.

Overcrowded schools and packed classrooms are an equity issue, too.

Advancing equity requires solid data, constant conversation, and accountability.
